Israel kills Palestinian youth in West Bank

Israeli forces killed a young Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials said, the latest death in a surge of violence that has wracked the region.

Zakaria al-Zaoul, 21-year-old was shot in the head by the Isralei forces, in the town of Husan, west of Bethlehem, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

Tuesday saw a surge in Israeli violence against Palestinians near the northern West Bank city of Jenin where the death toll has risen to six with the death today of a Palestinian man Amjad Aref Abu Jaas, who succumbed to his wounds sustained in the Israeli assault.

The 48-year-old was shot by a live bullet in the abdomen and was in critical condition until he was pronounced dead this morning, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

The other Palestinians killed during the assault included five youths, one of them a 15-year-old child while more than 90 were wounded, over 20 of them said to be in critical condition.

The occupation army raid on Jenin camp, lasting for more than 10 hours, saw Israel use helicopter gunships in the West Bank for the first time in several years.

Palestinian militants in retaliation detonated a large roadside bomb under an Israeli armored vehicle.

Israel forces have been carrying out near-nightly daily raids in the West Bank where at least 126 Palestinians have been killed this year, according to AP figures.
